Jacob ben Chayyim - Sculpture

We are pleased to offer this likeness of Jacob ben Chayyim (Hayyim), translator of the Mikraot Gedelot (Second Rabbinic Bible), most often called the Masoretic Text. This sculpture is made of marble stone resin and hand-finished with a bronze patina.

The second source for true text translation required the Hebrew Old Testament scrolls and parchments be collated and commentary, vowel points and context be combined into a single source Codex. Several attempts were made in the ongoing process to assure complete accuracy, the culmination of which came in 1525-26 with the work of Jacob Ben Chayyim, which was published by Daniel Bomberg in Venice 1525. The four-volume set is referred to as the Mikraot Gedelot, or the Second Rabbinic Bible, most often called the Masoretic Text, from which our English translation would find its origin.

Product Dimensions: 9.25" wide x 7" deep x 11" high

Product Weight: 14.5 lb.

Because each sculpture is hand-finished rather than mass-produced, there will naturally be some color variation and no two will be exactly alike. This is part of the nature and beauty of handmade objects, and should not be considered a flaw or defect. If you are attempting to match your previous sculpture purchases or have a particular look in mind (more or fewer highlights, for example), please contact us and we will be happy to provide photos of our current inventory so you can select the exact sculpture that will be shipped to you.
