John Calvin - Sculpture

This bust, made of marble stone resin and hand-finished with a bronze patina, depicts John Calvin, a prominent figure in the Protestant Reformation.

With the death of King Henry VIII and the ascension of Queen Mary (Bloody Mary), the Protestant Reformation experienced its greatest opposition to date. The inquisitions of Rome had scattered many from France, from Spain and from England. Ultimately, many found refuge among fellow Reformers in Geneva. Here, the work of William Whittingham and his compatriots would bring about the 1557 New Testament, soon followed by the Old Testament translation, which would be the 1560 Geneva. Reformers who would lead in this project: John Calvin, John Knox, Huldrych Zwingli, and others, formed a Protestant coalition that would soon find refuge again in England.

Product Dimensions: 6.5" wide x 7.5" deep x 10.25" high

Because each sculpture is hand-finished rather than mass-produced, there will naturally be some color variation and no two will be exactly alike. This is part of the nature and beauty of handmade objects, and should not be considered a flaw or defect. If you are attempting to match your previous sculpture purchases or have a particular look in mind (more or fewer highlights, for example), please contact us and we will be happy to provide photos of our current inventory so you can select the exact sculpture that will be shipped to you.
