The 1556 Juan Perez de Pineda Nuevo Testamento was a Spanish translation of the New Testament that was designed be spread abroad during the Spanish Inquisition. The Swiss translator managed to conceal his identity by publishing under the alias of "Juan Philadelpho" and claimed that his works were being published in Venice, Italy rather than Switzerland where Pineda completed his works. This translation's small size allowed it to be secretly transported into Seville, Spain, by Julianillo Hernández, in wine casks. Hernández was eventually captured and martyred for his work.
